CPC defends and promotes the following ethical principles which private enterprise must abide by:

1. Human Advancement and the Common Good

CPC and its branches consider that human advancement and contributing to the common good of society are the main objectives of business activity. A company must seek to benefit those it relates to directly or indirectly: workers, clients, suppliers, competitors, associates, the State, and the social community it is inserted in.  In order to achieve these objectives, companies must use their earnings for capital increases, the improvement of the salaries and working conditions of their employees, and the further training and personal development of all the individuals related to the company.

2.Vocation to Serve

CPC considers companies as institutions that serve individuals and society through the production of effective and reasonable goods and services. The economic benefits that arise from this activity constitute the immediate means by which companies manifest their vocation to serve. This efficiency also results in greater and better job creation, which contributes to the dignity of the individual and the improvement of society.

3.Freedom, Right to Private Property and Responsibility

Business activity depends on the individual freedom of businesspeople and workers, a basic requisite for creativity and the entrepreneurial spirit to emerge. CPC asserts that personal freedom is neither feasible nor effective in the economic-business sphere without respect for private property.
This ensures that people have the means to materialize their projects and receive the legitimate benefits of their work. Freedom and the right to private property are socially legitimized when these are responsibly exercised.

Such responsibility constitutes the fair counterpart of these rights and transcends the limits of judicial or legal regulations, as it implies a personal commitment on the part of the businessperson.

4.Free Market Economy

CPC considers the free market economy as the system that has demonstrated to be the best at conserving, safeguarding and increasing the abovementioned objectives. Consequently, it defends and promotes this system as a basic principle of economic action and demands that its associates strengthen it through responsible, ethical and solidary behavior.
